The LMQ Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Practice (Leadership and Management) is designed for practising managers, professionals and aspiring leaders who wish to advance their professional practice through rigorous, work-integrated postgraduate study that can be completed alongside employment. Consistent with the purposes of Business and Management education articulated in the QAA Subject Benchmark Statement (2023, §1.4), the programme develops a critical understanding of organisations and their wider economic, environmental, digital and social contexts; instils responsible leadership; and prepares graduates for senior leadership careers while equipping them with the skills and attributes for impactful, inclusive global citizenship and lifelong learning.
The programme is designed for learners who are in, or have recent access to, a professional context in which learning can be applied. Entry requirements have been set to mirror the general admission requirements for taught postgraduate study at UK universities, so that graduates satisfy the general entry conditions of articulating institutions:
- Academic entry: an honours degree (or equivalent) in any subject; or a lMQ Level 6 qualification with relevant professional experience.
- Professional context: applicants should normally have been employed, self-employed or engaged in substantial voluntary or professional activity within the last 18 months, working at a level appropriate to postgraduate professional-practice study.
- Non-standard entry: applicants without a degree who hold a senior or managerial role may be admitted on the basis of a portfolio of evidence and interview, in accordance with the LMQ Recognition of Prior Learning Policy.
Learners admitted through this route are advised that university articulation partners apply their own admission regulations.
- English language: IELTS 6.0 overall with no component below 5.5 (or equivalent) where English is not the applicant’s first language.
Advisory interview: all applicants meet a Professional Learning Advisor before enrolment to confirm that a suitable professional context exists for the negotiated learning agreement and the practitioner-inquiry proposal.
